SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man faces multiple charges including felonies in connection with an alleged domestic abuse incident.
48-year-old Daniel Johannsen faces two charges of felony domestic abuse and one count each of false imprisonment and substantial battery.
According to a criminal complaint, police were called out to a home on Swift Avenue on July 18th for a report of a domestic dispute. Officers got in contact with the victim, who said that an ex-boyfriend had argued with her over an argument over missing Xanax. She told the officers at that time that it was just an argument and nothing physical had happened.
Dispatchers got a call later in the day from the victim's son, who told police that his mom had lied about the incident because she was afraid that Johannsen would find out she talked and hurt her. Police came back on the 19th to talk to the victim, and officers noticed some injuries on her face. The victim then told police that Johannsen accused her of taxing Xanax and of having a boyfriend. Police say she tried to run, but that Johannsen allegedly dragged her back into the apartment and hit her.
The victim signed an affidavit for officers, and police took Johannsen into custody. According to online records, Johannsen has multiple other convictions for domestic abuse and intimidating a witness.
Johannsen remains in jail on a $15,000 cash bond and will be back in court next week for a preliminary hearing.
