SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan woman was arrested this weekend after assaulting a police officer.
39-yearold Veronica Padilla was charged on Monday with resisting arrest, battery of a police officer and disorderly conduct.
Acording to a criminal complaint, police were called out around 8:45 Friday night for a report of a minor crash between Padilla and another vehicle. Police say Padilla was apparently getting very vulgar and irate at the people in the other vehicle, and causing a disturbance. Police were trying to conduct more interviews at the scene, and Padilla allegedly started screaming at officers.
The officer at the scene called for backup and one of the department's female officers arrived to try and help. Padilla allegedly continued to argue with police and told them she didn't have her identification but it was inside her house. Police say they told Padilla if she tried to go into her house without them to get that ID she'd be arrested.
Padilla allegedly came out to scream at the officer again, and the female officer tried to take her into custody. Police say that's when Padilla started a fight, and started yanking the officer's hair hard enough to take a chunk out of her scalp. The other officer came over to help, and the two were able to take Padilla into custody. She allegedly kept screaming at officers, and told them that "police officers deserve to be killed."
Padilla is in custody on a $2,500 cash bond. She'll be back in court for a preliminary hearing July 20th.
