SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan man is facing multiple charges for neglecting his dogs.
19-year-old John Garrison Junior was charged on Friday with three counts of mistreatment of animals.
According to the criminal complaint, officers were called out on Wednesday for a report of animals being locked inside a home on the 1700 block of Erie Avenue. When police arrived, they found three dogs being kept in extremely poor conditions. Officers say two of the dogs were kept in cages that were filled with waste, and a third dog was locked inside a bathroom. None of the dogs had any access to food or water, and officers say the entire home smelled of animal waste. The Humane Society was called out to handle the animals, and they were taken to the shelter for examination. They say one of the dogs had an eye infection due to a buildup of discharge in the eye.
Officers located Garrison and brought him into custody on an unrelated warrant. When questioned, Garrison told police that he'd let the dogs out on July 4th, and that his cousin was supposed to take the dogs out on the 5th. He also allegedly told police he was taking responsibility, and that he loved his dogs and wouldn't do anything to harm them.
Garrison being held on a $250 cash bond and is not allowed to possess any animals. He's due back in court August 8th for a pre-trial conference.
