SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Cleveland man faces OWI and drug charges after an arrest last week.
60-year-old Michael Alten faces charges of 5th time OWI and 2nd time possession of synthetic cannabinoids.
According to the criminal complaint, deputies were called out Friday night for a report of a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 42 at Garton Road. Deputies caught up to the vehicle nad pulled the driver over. When they came up to him, the deputy says Alten looked glassy-eyed and bloodshot. The deputy asked for Alten's license and registration, and say that Alten had a hard time getting his wallet out out of his pocket. The deputy had Alten perform a field sobriety test, which he allegedly failed.
Alten was taken into custody, and when questioned allegedly told police that he was on multiple prescriptions from his doctor but that he couldn't remember what they were. Deputies say a search of Alten's vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia and a baggie with a synthetic pot inside.
Alten will be back in court next week for a status conference.
