RANDOM LAKE, Wis. (WHBL) -- A former Random Lake student teacher is facing charges for allegedly sexting female students.
23-year-old Dustin Veldboom is facing one count of exposing a child to harmful material.
According to the criminal complaint, administration found out about the alleged sexting after several students were heard discussing the message being sent to girls over Snapchat. School officials told police that five students may have received inappropriate messages from Veldboom. Administrators let Veldboom go June 1st after the preliminary investigation, and school principal Adam Englebretson told police he thought Veldboom had been doing an above average job in the position.
Police interviewed two 15-year-old girls who said Veldboom sent inappropriate messages. One girl told police that Veldboom tried to convince her to be his girlfriend and perform sexual acts while the other allegedly received photos of Veldboom with his shirt off asking her similar questions.
Police interviewed Veldboom, who allegedly admitted to having conversations over Snapchat with several girls, but that he couldn't remember any of them because he'd had seven Old Fashioneds.
Veldboom is due back in court on June 15th for a preliminary hearing.
