TOWN OF WILSON, Wis. (WHBL) -- The Town of Wilson/Black River fire department is getting a new set of breathing gear thanks to a federal grant.
The fire department is getting a $153,000 grant from FEMA to replace their outdated SCBA gear with newer models that can be modified and have their air tanks replaced on scene. Officials with the department say that the townships would have needed to foot the entire bill if that grant hadn't been issued. Instead, they'll only have to pay around $7,000 for the units.
Fire Chief Brian Schmitt says the department will now be going through some training and testing to find the best model to purchase with the funding.
