SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan man was taken to the hospital yesterday after being bitten by a dog who was defending its owner.
Police arrested 48-year-old Frank Herbert on charges of battery and disorderly conduct.
Lieutenant Doug Teunissen says they got a call around 9:50 pm Friday night of a report of an injured party on the 1600 block of St. Clair Avenue. Herbert was found lying in the road after being bitten several times by a dog and refused to move. During an investigation, police discovered that he had started a fight with another man and during the fight the man's dog defended his owner, biting Herbert multiple times.
Herbert was transported to the hospital with his injuries and then taken into custody. The owner of the dog has been cited for having an unlicensed animal. Teunissen says they did not take the dog into custody, and no decision has been made to investigate the dog for vicious behaviour.
