SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A number of Sheboygan residents got to have Coffee With A Cop yesterday at Al and Al's Steinhouse.
Sheboygan beat officer Andrew Kundinger says the events are still small with about 10 people showing up each time, but that it helps foster better dialog with residents. "I think we come away with some good connections to the community at each one of the meetings. It's always interesting to meet the people who come and hear what their concerns are."
Kundinger says the sessions are really an extension of his job as a community police officer. "I spend a lot of time walking around on foot or on a bicycle, and just getting to know the community. And that's what my job is, it's getting to know the community and building connections and relationships to people." He says it's important for people to be able to interact with the police in a setting where there isn't an emergency going on. "I think there's a lot of people who have maybe given up in the past and we're trying to bring people together who want things to change directions and begin the revitalization of Sheboygan."
The next Coffee With A Cop session is set for tomorrow morning at the North Side McDonalds starting at 9:30 am. You can find out more online at http://www.sheboyganpolice.com
