SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- Continuing tonight at the Leslie W. Johnson theater, it's Children of Eden with the Sheboygan Theatre company.
The musical is a retelling of both the story of Adam and Eve and Noah and the Great Flood, and features writing and musical scores from Stephen Schwartz who also wrote Godspell, Pippin, and Wicked. Managing Director Tom Berger says the show allows for a large cast able to showcase their talents. "I can tell you our production, we have a cast of 36, including them over 100 people have worked on the show in some capacity."
Berger says the show's topics may come from the Old Testament, but this is not a story about judgement and sin, but family. "No matter what you believe religiously, this is a story really about family, it's a story about learning when to let go, and it's a story about responsibility." He adds that Children of Eden isn't abstract about it, but instead handles the topic by bringing God into the story as 'Father', who has to come to tough decisions after the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden, the murder of Abel, and the decision to bring the Great Flood.
The show continues tonight at 7:30, and there's a Mother's Day matinee at 2. You can get more info online at http://www.SheboyganTheatreCompany.com
