SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- May is State Mental Health Month and Sheboygan officials are hosting a special mental health fair to help link providers with possible patients.

Sheriff Todd Priebe says today's fair will help people find the resources they need, and help them understand that the community is there to back them up. "One, they're not alone with these issues, and two, there is help. This fair is to help make those resources known and available to folks." Over 50 organisations will be on hand to help present information on where to get help, explanations on what treatment is available, and information on how to seek help for substance abuse treatment.

Kate Baer with Mental Health America says there shouldn't be any shame for people to seek help with a mental health problem. "One in four individuals at one point will have a mental health diagnosis in a year, and 50% of us in a life time, and that's not even delving into the different addiction issues."

That fair is this evening from 4:30 to 7:30 at RCS Empowers in Sheboygan. You can find out more online at http://mhasheboygan.org/events/mental-health-and-alochol-and-other-drug-abuse-aoda-resource-fair/
