SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- Sheboygan's city council may change the way it hands out alcohol licenses to accommodate a painting studio.
The Board and Brush in Sheboygan wants to be able to serve wine and malt beverages during painting classes, which would require a change to the way the city handles alcohol licenses. Law and Licensing chair Susan Lessard says the city attorney went through the options and requirements that the studio would need to provide those beverages. "There can't be children around during these paint classes, it isn't open to the public, there's specific times in which she does these classes." Whoever is serving would also be required to have a bartender's license.
Lessard says the owner of the studio came in to speak with the committee and she's convinced that they are ready and able to stick to the rules. "We needed to know that she understood the ramifications of having alcohol in her establishments and that the rules that apply to everyone apply to her, and I believe that without a shadow of a doubt she understands that."
The Board and Brush is one of several national chains that are offering these sorts of classes, and Lessard is happy to see a new company moving into Sheboygan. "It's a new opportunity for people and entertainment that seems to be very safe and guarded. And I'm hopeful that it's a success for this particular company and we'll see as the days go by."
Tonight's council meeting gets underway at 6 pm.
