SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Plymouth man is set to take a plea deal today for attacking a park ranger last year.
21-year-old Tyler Zastrow faces one count each of battery to police, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
According to a criminal complaint in the case, the county got 911 calls from Kohler-Andrae State Park on July 11 2015 of a man scaring people, punching cars and passing out. A park ranger arrived to investigate, and found Zastrow laying down in some grass. Deputies say Zastrow told the ranger that he'd run if he was going to be arrested.
The ranger tried to arrest him, and that's when Zastrow allegedly started to fight, punching the ranger in the head in the process. The ranger had to use pepper spray to restrain Zastrow until deputies arrived as backup.
Today's plea hearing was delayed for several months after Zastrow was spending time in a Hazelden Clinic for substance abuse treatment. Zastrow faces up to seven years in prison if he is found guilty on the original charges.
