SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan man is facing OWI charges after crashing his moped into parked vehicles.
52-year-old Alan Burby is charged with 5th time OWI.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a home on Dillingham Avenue around 8:15 on Friday after a person on a moped crashed into a pair of parked cars. The caller told police that he'd seen the driver of the moped crash into one car, right himself, and then ran into a second car.
Another neighbor told police that Burby had come up to her door and started pounding on it. When she answered, Burby asked to speak with a resident named Jesus. She told him the man wasn't home, at which point Burby threatened to call the police.
When officers come to interview Burby, they found a moped at his house with significant damage to the front left side. Officers also noticed that Burby had some road rash. When asked, police say he told them that he'd fallen down while sitting with his dog and the dog had dragged him on some concrete. Burby then failed sobriety tests at the scene and was taken into custody.
Police also contacted Burby's daughter, who claimed that the moped was hers and that the last time she'd seen it, it didn't have any of the damage.
Burby is currently free on a $2,000 cash bond and will be back in court for a preliminary hearing April 27th.
