SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- Today is election day, and Sheboygan officials are reminding you to get out and vote.

Sheboygan County Clerk Jon Dolson says his office and the city clerk's offices have been preparing for the day for months now. He says one thing that may surprise people is seeing most of the names of candidates who were running for the presidential nominations. "We're given the cut off date months from election with the list of names from the Government Accountability Board, and that's what we have to go with an that's what's printed on the ballot." He says that's because the ballot as it stands is a snapshot of the Presidential race from January 26th.

A large turnout is also expected at the polls today with estimates from the GAB at 40% voter rate. Dolson says that means you should give yourself more time to vote. "Just a reminder that it's very important to have patience because there may be some lines because of all of this in the media about the presidential candidates." Also remember to bring a photo ID with you to the poll so that election officials can identify you.

Voting starts this morning at 7 am and runs to 8 pm.
