SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- A Sheboygan woman is headed to trial on drug charges stemming from an incident with a roommate.
39-year-old Naomi Cerda pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct last week.
According to a criminal complaint, police were called to an apartment on the 2400 block of Camelot Avenue just after midnight on March 16th. A former resident of the apartment and a female companion arrived to remove items from that apartment, and found Cerda and another person doing drugs. The man confronted the pair, and then Cerda rushed into the bathroom, allegedly flushing drugs down the toilet. Police say Cerda then left the bathroom and started a fight with the female companion.
When police arrived, they spotted drugs and paraphernalia in plain view in the apartment, including a crystal meth rock. Cerda told police it wasn't hers, but instead a person named Lee. She was unable or unwilling to describe Lee or where to find him. She also denied doing drugs.
When police tried to take her into custody, they say she then started to fight with the officer on scene, forcing him to eventually pin her to a couch to try to calm her down.
Cerda is free on a $1,000 cash bond and is due back in court May 3rd for a pretrial conference.
