SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) -- A Sheboygan woman faces drug charges after officers found meth in a lost purse.
33-year-old Brook Haneman faces one charge each of possession of methamphetamine and THC, operating after revocation and three counts of bail jumping.
According to a criminal complaint, police were called to Trilling's Hardware on Wednesday after an employee found a lost purse in the parking lot with drugs inside. Officers reviewed the surveillance tape from the parking lot and spotted Haneman dropping the purse by accident and driving away in her car.
Police went to Haneman's house and spotted her in the driver's seat of the car searching around for something. Police say she told them that the vehicle actually belongs to a friend who was at work in Milwaukee and she was just borrowing it. She also allegedly admitted to losing the purse which had the drugs in it, but she claimed that the drugs were old and she wasn't using them.
Police then arrested Haneman, and took her in for questioning. She reportedly told them that she's seen media reports about the big drug bust case in Green Bay and wanted to get rid of her drugs. She told police she went to Trillings to get a spare key made and the dropped the purse behind.
She's free on a $500 cash bond and will be back in court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
