PLYMOUTH, Wis. (WHBL) -- One of two men who overdosed on heroin last week is headed to trial.
24-year-old Joshua Tayloe was in court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing on charges of possession of narcotics, possession of THC, possession of controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia charges and OWI. His attorney tried to have the narcotics possession charge dropped, but a judge denied the motion. Tayloe entered not guilty pleas on all charges.
According to a criminal complaint, police were called out to the 700 block of McColm Street in Plymouth for a report of an unresponsive man. When police and EMS arrived, they found 24-year-old Mitchell Hundt unresponsive and choking with a blue color to his skin and lips. Responders administered Narcan to Hundt who recovered and started to wake up. While on the scene, police found multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia and crack cocaine.
Later that day, police also were called out to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a mailbox on Shamrock Court. The driver of the vehicle was identified at Tayloe, and police were able to revive him as well. Inside his vehicle, police found more drugs and paraphernalia, including adderall, marijuana, and heroin.
After both men were transported to the hospital, police interviewed Tayloe. He said he and Hundt were long time friends, and that the two had travelled to Milwaukee earlier that day to buy crack and heroin. They also purchased the marijuana and adderall from someone in the Sheboygan area. He told police that he had been clean from drugs for a number of months before Hundt called him up and they were using that day. When police later interviewed Hundt, he confirmed Tayloe's story.
Hundt faces charges of possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hundt is free on a $500 cash bond and will be back in court April 19 for a pretrial conference.
