SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Two incidents of retail theft last year have led to a Sheboygan woman receiving an 18 month probation sentence last week.
38-year-old Erika Gamez was also ordered to not make contact with Kohl’s and Wal-mart stores and receive appropriate counseling. The sentence came after a plea deal was reached with the second theft incident, where Gamez pleaded no contest to a charge of retail theft, while a charge of intentionally contributing to the delinquency of a child was dismissed.
The first theft occurred on April 11, as the criminal complaint stated Gamez was one of two people stopped after leaving Kohl’s with a shopping cart containing over 12-hundred dollars of jewelry, shoes and clothes.
Court records show Gamez originally got a deferred prosecution for this theft, but that was revoked after she was charged for a theft at Sheboygan’s southside Wal-mart September 14.
The criminal complaint for that offense stated Gamez was one of five people, including several underage children, caught on surveillance video stealing just under 500-dollars worth of items from the store.
