ELKHART LAKE, WI (WHBL) - Road America announced Wednesday that several new structures are under construction to enhance the fan experience at the legendary race track near Elkhart Lake. In a press release, President and General Manager George Bruggenthies said it includes a new retail and visitor center, along with a new main gate and winner’s circle.
The retail and visitors center will serve as a focal point for visitors to gather, shop, and learn about Road America’s history, along with providing new entertainment amenities and serve various uses.
The new main gate is intended to have new information screens and provide people easy access to the racetrack grounds.
The new winner’s circle will be in the ground’s paddock area near a structure that honors the old Pagoda used in the racetrack’s earlier years, and will give fans a chance to continue celebrating a racer’s victory.
All three projects are said to have a look that will match Road America’s rural branding for all of its structures on the property.
In a statement, Bruggenthies says the hope for the new structures is to “attract individuals and families from across the nation and enhance their visit, because as we like to say at Road America, come for the experience and stay for the race.”
Plans are to have the new retail and visitors center completed this spring, in time for the 2016 race schedule, and to keep the retail space open year round.
