SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man will be spending several years in a state prison for leading a Sheboygan Police officer on a short high speed chase back in October.
Judge Angela Sutkiewicz sentenced 21 year old Andrew Beltran this week to serve two-and-a-half years in a state prison, followed by six years extended supervision, after he pleaded no contest to charges of first degree recklessly endangering safety and attempting to flee an officer.
The incident back on October 8 had a Sheboygan Police officer following a vehicle traveling around 80 miles per hour south on Highway 42 on Sheboygan’s north side. The officer ended the pursuit for safety reasons when the vehicle continued its speed into a neighborhood area.
The next day, an anonymous tip led to Beltran’s arrest. He confessed to driving the vehicle, which had a seven-week old infant inside at the time.
Beltran’s sentence will be served in connection with two other sentences for burglaries that occurred in Sheboygan and Fond du Lac counties in November of 2012.
