SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Milwaukee man was given a twelve month jail sentence, with nine months imposed, for sexually assaulting a teenage girl back in December of 2014.
Judge James Bolgert sentenced 26 year old Stephen Demers last week to the jail time, plus five years probation that was withheld, after he pleaded no contest in November to a charge of second-degree sexual assault of a child.
The charge was issued in May after Sheboygan Police conducted an investigation into the assault of the girl at a home on North 11th Street. The criminal complaint states the girl was a runaway for 11 days and was spending time at the home along with Demers. One night, the victim claims she and Demers had sex, which she described as painful and wanted it to stop. It was not until a few months later that Sheboygan Police found Facebook conversations between the two that connected Demers as the suspect.
In addition to the jail time, Demers will be required to register on the state sex offender registry for life.
