SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man avoided additional time in state prison for attacking another person in the Sheboygan County Detention Center back in May.
Judge James Bolgert sentenced 33 year old Jermaine Hampton last week to two years in state prison, plus two years extended supervision, after he pleaded no contest to a count of battery by prisoner. However, that sentence will be served at the same time he is serving time for firing a gun in Sheboygan back in November in 2014.
As for the assault incident, the criminal complaint filed against him states Hampton was released from his cell into a vestibule area in the detention center May 11. Surveillance video showed Hampton approached another inmate and was able to strike him several times and grab the inmate’s hair before the two were broken up. No reason for the attack was provided in the complaint.
