SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - The first major snow storm of the season has passed, but not without causing problems for motorists trying to drive in the snow, sleet, and high winds. Law enforcement agencies across the area reported dozens of calls of vehicles stuck in the snow or causing accidents.
They recommend to people that the best advice to follow is to stay off the road when conditions deteriorate.
Lieutenant Jason Liermann with the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department says if one needs to drive in this type of weather, be prepared. “When the weather gets like this and we get these significant snowfalls; if you have to drive give yourself a lot of extra time to get to where you need to go. Also, make sure you get some extra supplies in the car, be it jackets, gloves, maybe a bottle or two of water. And finally make sure you’ve got a full tank of gas. Get that gas before the storm hits as we’ve had multiple vehicles run out of gas while they waited for help to arrive.”
The Sheboygan Police Department is also providing a similar message to drivers, especially with the most recent snowfall leading to a slower response to clearing off roadways. They recommend drivers to take extra time and slow down so that they can get to where they need to go without major difficulties.
