SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - Citizen Action of Wisconsin released Monday their tenth annual state health insurance cost rankings report, showcasing where in the state people pay the most for insurance plans. The report focuses on twenty locations across the state, which includes Sheboygan.
In their report, the Sheboygan metro area ranks 13th when considering all health plans offered for 2016, paying around 81-hundred dollars for the year. When broken down, Sheboygan is tied for 12th for large group costs at just below 95-hundred dollars, and tied for 11th for both small groups, at just below 72-hundred dollars, and individuals at around 77-hundred dollars.
As for the change in costs due to inflation, Sheboygan was tied at the top for the biggest change in small group plans at 10-point-eight percent, while the area ranked 15th for individual markets changes, increasing seven-point-eight percent.
One point of the report is to show the differences in the cost for insurance across the state.
When compared to the cheapest metro area for plans, found in Madison, the Sheboygan area is spending over 12-percent more for similar health plans.
Citizen Action of Wisconsin says they hope their report will help spur action by state lawmakers to ensure health insurance costs remain affordable and equal for all.
