WASHINGTON D.C. (WHBL) - President Barack Obama signed into law Friday the first long-term federal transportation bills in years, designating 305-billion dollars towards this nation infrastructure over the next five years.

One of the members of Congress who voted against the bill was area Congressman Glenn Grothman.

He tells WHBL News a part of his reason for his no vote was the amount that was being put in to increase bus and subway services.  "Operating bus systems should really be more of a state or local thing than a federal thing anyway, but having massive increases in spending on bus systems and subway systems, it’s just wrong for the federal government to do."

Grothman added his vote shows that he wants more done to reduce spending in the federal government.  "It was one of those votes in which you could really see Congress is not prepared to say no to spending."
