SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Quick thinking is being credited for keeping a vehicle fire from becoming something worse in Sheboygan Thursday.

Sheboygan Fire Department Battalion Chief Keith Risse tells WHBL News they were called to Walgreens along Erie Avenue around 4:30 p.m. for a vehicle on fire in a parking spot.

An investigation determined the vehicle’s driver noticed the smell of smoke while waiting in the drive-thru of the store.  The driver is credited for pulling away from the building and into a parking stall, then getting out and calling for help.

Risse says the fire was in the engine compartment, which was put out quickly.

Damage was limited to the vehicle, and no injuries were reported.
