SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - Even though snow may not be on the ground, parking as if there is must be followed for the next several months. The changing of the months from November to December means many communities in our listening area have winter parking rules now in effect. That is done so that snow plows can clear as much of a roadway as possible following a snow fall.
In our listening area, only Sheboygan allows parking overnight on city streets that allow parking on both sides. Sheboygan Police Lieutenant Doug Teunissen says the rule will remain the same as in past years, with the saying being 'Park for Tomorrow'. "So on odd-numbered days between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. vehicles shall only be parked on that side of the street having odd-numbered street addresses. On even-numbered days vehicles shall only be parked on the side of the street with even-numbered addresses."
Teunissen adds streets with only one side parking or no parking at all will remain the same.
As for other municipalities in our area, no parking is allowed on any streets. When the restriction is enforce, both in time and days of the year, differ between cities and villages. A list of most communities is below
