SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man who fled police, causing one officer to suffer injuries, will have to serve a 30 day jail sentence.
Judge L. Edward Stengel sentenced Simon Rodriguez Jr. this week to the jail time, plus three years of probation and possible community service depending on other conditions. Rodriguez pleaded no contest to a resisting officer causing injury felony for his actions on Sheboygan’s south side July 10.
According to the criminal complaint, Sheboygan Police wanted to interview two people, one of them Rodriguez, regarding recently stolen bikes. Rodriguez reportedly resisted officer’s requests and fled the scene. An officer pursuing Rodriguez lost his footing and hit a fence post head first. He suffered a concussion and a sprained knee.
Rodriguez was eventually caught after he returned home and his mother convinced him to cooperate with officers.
