SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The self-proclaimed “World’s Tallest Symbol of Freedom” has gotten a bigger flag to fly.
ACUITY announced Monday it has increased the size of the American flag its 400-foot tall flagpole flies by 36-percent. The new flag is 140 feet long by 70 feet high, and is intended to be more visually balanced with the flagpole.
In a statement, ACUITY President and CEO Ben Salzman says since completion of the flagpole last year has proven it is structurally sound, it is more than capable to handle the larger flag.
The new flag covers nearly 10-thousand square feet, stripes that are five feet high, stars that are three feet across, and weighs 340 pounds dry.
