SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department is assisting law enforcement in Oregon and Idaho in the search for a missing person who was last seen 35 years ago.
Randall Leach was 20 years old when he tried to hitchhike from Wisconsin in November of 1980 to his sister’s home in Oregon. He was last seen alive leaving a farm in Idaho Falls, Idaho, November 7th that year. Leach’s family reported him missing in February of 1981, and the search for him has continued.
Sheboygan County got involved in the case thanks to a connection between the Leach family and the deputy inspector of the detective division at the time the disappearance occurred. That relationship has allowed for dental and DNA records to be obtained and submitted to national registries to aid in the search.
If Leach is still alive, the 55 year old is expected to be about five-feet-nine inches tall, estimated to weigh between 140 and 160 pounds, and would have brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Detective Corey Norlander at 459-3859. Tips can also be submitted through the Sheboygan County Crime Stoppers program.
