SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - An elderly Sheboygan woman has entered a plea of no contest in Sheboygan County Court to a charge of 2nd degree murder in the death of her infant daughter 56 years ago.  76 year old Ruby Klokow appeared Monday morning before Judge Angela Sutkiewicz, who accepted the plea and found Klokow guilty. As part of a plea bargain reached in the case last week, Klokow will be placed on probation for 10 years.  DA Joe DeCecco is recommending 45 days in the county jail but that will be argued when Klokow is sentenced on April 15th.  Klokow was scheduled to go on trial beginning Monday before the plea agreement was reached.  Her 7-month old daughter died in 1957 and, at the time, the death was ruled accidental.  However the case was re-opened after her adult son came forward in 2008 and Klokow admitted to throwing her daughter onto a couch, causing her to fall to the floor.  The child died later of head injuries.  DeCecco said it would have been a complicated case for a jury, since they would have been dealing with laws and penalties that haven't been on the books for 20 years.  DeCecco said, "One of the concerns of the state was that the person the jury sees would not be a 21 year old young mother, but a 76 year old grandmother."  He said she is frail and ill.
