SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - An Illinois man is scheduled to begin a jury trial in Sheboygan County Court Wednesday for his alleged role in a 2013 heroin overdose death.
Three days have been set for the trial in front of Judge L. Edward Stengel for 36-year-old Leanel Holder. He faces a first-degree reckless homicide felony for delivery of drugs.
Holder was one of two people charged back in February of 2014 for the heroin overdose death of William Widucki of Sheboygan in December of 2013.
Past stories by WHBL News report the original criminal complaint filed for Holder states he was part of a large scale criminal enterprise to sell heroin in Sheboygan, and was considered the local leader in the area.
He allegedly got Monica Sanchez to sell heroin to her uncle Widucki, which reportedly led to his death.
Sanchez was sentenced in June for her role in this and two other overdose death cases in the county.
Holder’s attorney tried to have the case adjourned last week, but online court records show Judge Stengel denied the motion.
The trial is scheduled to last through Friday.
