SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan man’s drug habit will cause him to serve three years in state prison.
Judge L. Edward Stengel sentenced 41 year old Anthony Gilbert Monday to the prison time plus three years extended supervision. It comes after a plea deal was reached, allowing Gilbert to plead no contest to three counts of retail theft, and have five other similar counts dismissed.
Gilbert was charged in June after he was found to have taken over five thousand dollars worth in liquor, baby formula, and freezer bags from the Pick n’ Save store on South Business Drive in Sheboygan. The total was over eight separate thefts from the store in late May and early June.
When interviewed by investigators, Gilbert reportedly said he would sell the items in Milwaukee to get money to maintain a Percocet addiction.
