SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Cascade man will spend two years in state prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl last year. Judge Timothy Van Akkeren sentenced Nicholus Hefter Tuesday to the jail time, plus five years extended supervision and a requirement to register as a sex offender for 15 years.

The 20 year old pleaded no contest in June to two counts of third-degree sexual assault as part of a plea deal reached with prosecutors to reduce charges.

The criminal complaint originally filed in the case accused Hefter of sexually assaulted a then 16 year old girl during a party at a Cascade home last October.  The victim claimed something was slipped into a drink, causing her to pass out and allowing Hefter to assault her several times.

Witnesses and DNA evidence were used by investigators to connect Hefter to being with the victim at the time of the assaults.
