SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - Numbers from the Wisconsin Realtors Association has shown Sheboygan County’s housing market has been hot and cold in 2015, depending on the month.
"We're seeing a sporadic market; peaks and lows," says Gary Beaudoin of ReMax Universal Realty.
Beaudoin says now is the peak time for home buying and selling. "Buyers are out there purchasing, so we’re seeing a lot of large number of homes with accepted offers. We’re seeing a balance in the overall real estate right not between the buying side and the selling side, and with the listing inventory, and etcetera."
When compared to other counties in the state and Wisconsin as a whole, Sheboygan County has not seen as big of an increase in home sales and prices in 2015 when compared to last year.
Beaudoin says one reason is due to the impact of jobs leaving the country over the past few decades, some which used to be in our area. "We’re running into an issue where people have defaulted on homes, we’re sitting on some heavy inventory here in this local real estate market."
However, Beaudoin says inventory numbers are lower recently thanks to a bigger emphasis to get people to move to Sheboygan County and work here. "I see the job market swinging in the other direction. ACUITY, Johnsonville, all have been just pillars of strength in this area as well."
Wisconsin as a whole saw one of its best June housing markets in the past decade last month.
