SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan Police are using a reported missing child incident this week to remind kids of their responsibility to keep parents in the know of where they are.
On Thursday, a 10-year-old boy was reported missing to police just before 7 p.m. after he had not returned home from the Boys and Girls Club. Numerous officers went out to search for the boy. About 50 minutes later, he returned home after making an unplanned stop at the library.
The department says they are happy the child made it home safely, but they want to remind kids to let a responsible adult know where they will be if their original plans have changed.
Several incidents like the one Thursday have taken a serious tone in Sheboygan in the past year. Searches for a reported missing child due to a miss-communication have been done by law enforcement and citizens groups for several hours before the child was found safe.
