PLYMOUTH, WI (WHBL) - Another first time event for 2015 in Plymouth is taking place this Saturday. The Downtown Plymouth Association is putting on Plymouth Family Fun Day in the downtown area along the Mullet River.
Randy Schwoerer says the key part of the event is Touch-A-Truck, allowing kids from 1 to 101 a chance to see over 20 large trucks and pieces of equipment up close. "Ranging from a Sargento semi, Johnsonville semi, county dump trucks, and on and on."
Another part of the event is the first running of the Grand Prix of Cheese. Similar to the Ducktona race in Sheboygan Falls, 1,000 pieces of Styrofoam formed cheese will be dropped near the Mill Pond dam and float down the Mullet River. Those pieces reaching Stayer Park first will win prizes.
Other events taking place include the Big Wheel of Cheese drag races, raffles, bouncy houses, music, and food.
Schwoerer says all funds raised will go towards three organizations:
-The Plymouth Police Department to fund a new K-9 dog
-The Plymouth Fire Department to go towards a new fire truck.
-Also receiving funds is Angel Hugs. "And that’s because of the programs that they do for young people in need with cancer and other problems," says Schwoerer.
The event is free to attend, and activities run from 10 to 4. There will be a cost for most of the activities, but the Touch-A-Truck is free.
