SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - It could be tough at times to breathe for some people in Wisconsin Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for the entire state due to smoke from wildfires in Canada and Alaska.
The smoke has been in the atmosphere the past few days, giving the skies a hazy look despite all the sunshine. However, the recent passage of a cold front will allow the smoke to drop closer to the ground, decreasing air quality to unhealthy levels for sensitive groups. This includes children, elderly people, those who have respiratory and cardiac problems, and anyone who plans to do strenuous outdoor activities for long periods.
The smoke will vary across the state, but the hope is to have conditions improve as the day progresses.
