Town of Sheboygan, WI (WHBL) – 18 year old Jonathan M. Mueller II of Sheboygan is facing a felony charge of manufacturing firebombs.

Mueller was arrested after investigators say they used Facebook postings to link him to two sites where Molotov cocktails were thrown. One of the sites was in front of the teen’s home.

A criminal complaint filed in Sheboygan County Court states that on June 23, 2015, fire investigators were dispatched to a home at W1819 Ashwood Drive in the Town of Sheboygan, where two used Molotov cocktails were found alongside a roadway.

Investigators concluded that distinguishable burn marks, along with broken beer bottles, and cloth, all bore the tell-tale signs of the crude firebomb.

Further investigation turned up a separate burn site on Shady Brook Lane which closely resembled the remnants of the Molotov cocktails found on Ashwood Drive.  This second location, according to the complaint, is near Mueller’s home where he lives with his parents.

A detective looking into the case discovered a Facebook posting which he alleges shows Mueller holding a Molotov cocktail along with the caption, "Molotov Cocktail Boyz."

Investigators say that when presented with this information, Mueller admitted to making the firebombs for “Pure fun, just to try it.” Mueller reportedly also stated that he and a friend made the devices out of boredom.

In addition to the felony charge, Mueller is facing charges of; bail jumping, negligent handling of burning material, and criminal trespass.  Investigators say he confessed to starting a fire in the basement of a building that was under construction on November 7, 2014.

Mueller could get up to six years in prison if convicted.
