Sheboygan, WI (WHBL) - You’ve all heard it; the revving of a motorcycle or hotrod roaring through the streets of Sheboygan. Roaring loud enough, at times, to wake the dead.

Now that the summer months are upon us, Sheboygan Police will be cracking down on such a nuisance by enforcing city ordinance §118-6, otherwise known as the “Throttle Management Initiative.”

Lieutenant Mike Williams says officers will be keeping an ear out for unnecessary or annoying noise that is created by revving engines, or squealing tires.  The Lieutenant says, “Whether the vehicle is a car, truck, or motorcycle,” drivers of loud vehicles will get pulled over, even if the noise results from defective equipment. He says Officers have at their discretion whether or not to issue citations to violators.

This is a reminder to drivers to make sure their mufflers are compliant.

The ordinance is meant to ensure the quality of life for fellow Sheboygan citizens who typically complain about the loud noise sometimes generated by vehicles.
