UPDATE: The flag has returned to the ACUITY flag pole Wednesday morning hours earlier than what was scheduled.
Sheboygan, WI (WHBL) – Acuity got away with it Monday night, likely because the rain and low clouds concealed the fact that the world’s largest symbol of freedom was missing from its proper place - atop the 400’ flagpole that stands along Interstate 43 (The flag measures 60’ high by 120’).
But, on a sunny and clear Tuesday, the absence of “Old Glory” was glaring. For people who drive the stretch of highway between exits 123 and 126, the missing flag instantly became a hot topic. First came the phone calls, then the emails to WHBL. Listeners sought information about the flag’s whereabouts, and wish to know (to-the-minute) when the stars and stripes will fly again.
It turns out, the world’s tallest American Flag is an equally tall symbol of Sheboygan pride. Acuity clearly is aware of this fact - as they announced on the company’s website that the flag was taken down for maintenance late Monday, at midnight. It will return to its rightful place, high above Sheboygan by 4pm Wednesday. Problem solved! Thanks Acuity.
