SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan’s Common Council is in need of a new alderperson.
District 1 Alderman Eldon Burg will step down Tuesday, less than two months after being elected to the seat. Burg is resigning due to medical reasons which have kept him away from the council since late April.
"We wish him the very best in his recovery, and would ask that you keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he goes forward," said Council President Don Hammond during Monday's Common Council meeting.
Anyone in wards one, two, or three can apply to fill the vacancy and submit it to the city by June 12. Council members will select a new alderperson at their next meeting June 15. That person will finish out the term through the spring of 2017.
