SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The Sheboygan County District Attorney's office has filed six new charges against former Sheboygan Alderman Kevin Matichek in connection to his alleged sexual acts with underage males.
One of the new charges is a felony for a public official offering a bribe. That criminal complaint states that in August of 2013, a then 18 year old male went out on a date with Matichek, which included sex, in order to get Matichek’s support for his bartender’s license up for approval. The license was approved by the Common Council during their September 16, 2013 meeting.
Sheboygan County District Attorney Joe DeCecco says this charge came about as the result of media coverage of Matichek’s original conviction of sexual assault of a minor. "The initial case brought forth a number of people, young males, who were prompted by the report to contact police; and this young man was one of them," says DeCecco.
Matichek was also charged Wednesday with five counts of possession of child pornography found on his phone.
DeCecco says these charges will be taken up in court April 15th.
Online court records show the original charge against Matichek of repeated sexual assault of the same child will have a status conference on April 6. A plea hearing is currently scheduled for May 4, with a jury trial date for May 20.
