SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - SEAS no longer wants to build at the Sheboygan Armory location.
The Sailing Education Association of Sheboygan wants to place its new headquarters at the former Military Heritage Museum on South 8th Street.
Chairwoman Leslie Kohler says one reason for the change is the chance to have more classrooms. "That was very exciting to us because we would be able to do more things and partner with more people to do things there," says Kohler. Other benefits Kohler pointed to include the ability to launch boats from the site and lower costs than their proposed plans for the Armory site.
SEAS’ plans to demolish the Armory were put on hold in January when supporters to keep the structure successfully got a 90-day hold in place for consideration as a “preferred preserved significant building.”
Kohler says their new space may be open as early as this fall.
