SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Wednesday marked the 20th year for Kick Butts Day, when activities are held to get kids and young adults to speak out against tobacco companies.
At U-W Sheboygan, Intern Lucas Dulmes says they encouraged students and staff to use selfies in their messages. "Tobacco companies call youth 18 to 24 replacement smokers. So the idea is to have them take a picture with a sign that says “I am not a replacement, I am…” and then they fill in what they represent," says Dulmes.
Dulmes says the day allows them to bring to people’s attentions a way the university can help smokers. "We have a cessation grant for students who are here that would like to quit smoking. We have resources available to them," says Dulmes.
