Get ready for the cold...again

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - Our area will feel another shot of arctic air from today through Friday. FEMA Regional Community Preparedness Officer Mary Rhedin says the best advice is to stay out of the cold.  "If you must go out, certainly do dress in layers and keep dry," says Rhedin.

It is important to keep an eye out for others who may suffer from frostbite and hypothermia if left out in the cold, both humans and animals.  "Bring your pets indoors so they will have a warm shelter area with unfrozen water," says Rhedin.

As for your home, Rhedin says have heating units checked to ensure they’re working properly, and stick to just this.  "Never use a generator, grill, camp stove, or other gasoline, propane, natural gas, or charcoal burning devices inside a home, garage, basement, crawl space, or any other enclosed area," says Rhedin.  It is also recommended to have working carbon monoxide detectors in your home.

More tips can be found at ready.gov.
