SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Area nurses who want to earn a bachelor’s degree can sign up soon to take those classes in the area. Concordia University Wisconsin will begin a new series of their nurse bachelor completion program at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Care Clinic in Sheboygan and Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland.
School of Nursing Dean Dr. Sharon Chappy says a bachelor’s degree helps nurses expand their opportunities for employment. "Public health departments only hire nurses with baccalaureate degrees," said Chappy. "Many health care facilities also are requiring that anybody in a managerial role would have a baccalaureate degree at a minimum."
Dr. Chappy says one could earn their degree in as little as 18 months, but participants can take longer since courses are offered cyclically. "So they could take a course and then they could take a couple weeks off if they wanted, then come in the next time the next course is offered," said Chappy.
An informational meeting is planned for this Wednesday at Sheboygan’s Memorial Hospital and St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan on February 11. More information can be found by contacting Professor Carol Leuders-Bolwerk at 262-243-4233.
