SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - It was not the official event, but several dozen people watched Assemblymen-elect Terry Katsma and Tyler Vorpagel have their ceremonial swearing in ceremony at the Sheboygan County Courthouse Monday. Both men used the event to thank supporters for their help in their November election wins.
Katsma, who is replacing Mike Endsley as the 26th District Assemblyman, says he hopes to live up to the high standard or being a statesman, not a politician. "My goal is to have parents say to their kids ‘There’s Mr. Katsma. He’s representing up in Madison. I may not agree with all of his positions, but he’s worthy of our respect.’," said Katsma.
Vorpagel, who is replacing Steve Kestell as the 27th District Assemblyman, says his focus will be to serve his district constituents. "It’s really the people who elect us, who are our bosses, who…were there to represent, and what we’ll always will need to remember that," said Vorpagel.
Both men take their official oath on January 5.
