SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The former chief of the Sheboygan Fire Department is suing the city over sick pay. Jeff Hermann, who retired at the end of last year, says the city did not pay out his remaining sick pay as was promised to him.
Speaking at Monday’s city council meeting, Chief Administrative Officer Jim Amodeo says the city changed how it dealt with sick pay when Act 10 was passed, and that Hermann had a chance to avoid that change by retiring at the end of 2011. "So he knew the change. He knew what the impact would be. He chose not to do it, and now he’s saying he is owed that," said Amodeo
The council has approved using outside legal counsel to assist in the lawsuit. If Hermann wins his lawsuit, Amodeo says he could receive up to one-point-two million dollars.
