SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Today is UW-Sheboygan Day in the city of Sheboygan. Mayor Mike Vandersteen issued that proclamation this week in honor of the campus’s 50th Anniversary. Dean Jackie Joseph-Silverstein accepted the proclamation, saying while the history of the college dates back to the 1930s, it was the opening of the current campus 50 years ago when higher education found its true home in the area.
Several events are planned at the UW-Sheboygan campus to mark the occasion, including the groundbreaking at 4:30 this afternoon for the new Engineering Building. There will also be campus tours, children’s educational activities, and a performance by the Buffalo Joe Band from 6 to 8 this evening.
